Why does my Population Decrease?

I am a newbie with so much to get to grips with - but a major query is why does my population decrease? I have houses and lumber mills and try to attend to fire alerts.

Cathy it is important that you keep your power/ mood over 75 percent as these two will affect your population and manufacturing levels in the early part of your game it is a fine balance to keep these over that mark.

Thank you - I've returned all the decorations that i had put in inventory whilst tidying up and yes - that has had an impact and population returned. Is there any other way to gain mood points?

 

You will get decorations as your game grows also by doing events and upgrading your commercial buildings, this will also drop your power levels so caution is needed there from medal packs later on you can select the appropriate saving from your residences when you upgrade to level 4
