    Hi there^-^

I did'nt find another thread about this, if there is.... sorry ^-^''

However... would you like to have a super playfield?

I think it's boring to "jump" between playfields (ok for 2, but now will be 4, and in the future maybe will be other playfields), and most of all, wait to load them.

If there will be only one big playfield with several areas, it will be more simple and also grat to view it. Just move in it, as we can do now, with a single playfied.

think, you could see everything and move buildings and other things, maybe without use the inventory. Just move the objects in "one solution"

It' only a little idea... :p

  2. It definitely have some advantages, but also have disadvantages, like the time necessary for the game to load will be much bigger, if one have a slower PC, he'll have problems with moving around.

I agree with damidami it would be nice, not have to jump back and forth between playing fields. But, I also see technical difficulties with implementation of one big playing field. Load time, internet connection speed, server capacities, etc. We can dream of the day when we all have "Star Trek" style computer capacity. Until that day! :(

hum... you've right too... I know it would be some problem... Maybe one solution would be make for the future, if there will be more than 6-8 playfields, one bigger playfield that could inlcude 2. Just to reduce a little the future number of multiple playfields.
And maybe, in the future also the connections would be faster than today.

However, it's a little dream for a future development of rising cities. Just a cute image. ^-^'

Good idea having one big playfield, although I think the emergency system would become chaos - having it just in the city is fine. Also, there must be a reason why we cant move everything to other playfields, so I guess having many playfields is a system technicality rather than practicality.

  6. As others suggested, load time would be increased probably beyond reasonable measure, and older computers just could not handle it.

ehh.. yes, this is the big problem.... Have you got an alternative idea about this?

sorry, in fact, when I thought about a big one playfield, I didn't think about dsl slower connection

  8. Of course we have an alternative idea. Many playfields. That's exactly what we (will) have. :) :) :)

I wish there was a way to know when to collect rent, products, etc. in the other play fields with out having to switch between fields. I understand it is a necessary evil but it is time consuming and will only get worse with the addition of more fields. Damidami you have suggested a solution. Maybe someone can come up with a workable solution for us. :)

im still working on my city play field. at the coastal area, i moved most of my decorations, because switching between playfields (and collect rent etc.) is slow with me becuz of my pc. wish if there were no switching between playfields and all in single playfield. i agree with dami...

there is always a balance between how complex a game is and how well it will run. id like to have a great big city plot too but if this means game will have problems loading or work less good, then id rather we keep the switch pf option.
if game has problems then nomatter how cool it is ppl wont play it simply because it doesnt work well enough.

  12. Oh my goodnes Billy, what do you mean you wish, as if there wasn't? Let me spell out 3 basic:

    • You know what houses you have on each field right? It's not that difficult to remember. Well, chances are, you have houses with the same timer on other fields too. Whatever field you log in, when the houses there are ready, the houses with the same timer on other fields are likely to be ready too.
    • Get yourself a free count down timer soft and make as many count down alarms for different fields and houses as you want and need. Used with discretion it's a great help and takes nearly no time to operate.
    • Get yourself a pen and paper and just jot down the time when important operation are ready.
Well, mix them all together, add some more, and you have quite a reliable and reasonable management system. I know it's not an independent, highly customisable management console giving you visual and audio messages based on events in your game even without being logged in, but it's doable and works fine without much effort. :)

Oh, Mighty Nortoncommander. You remind me of the story of in the 60's when NASA needed to be able to write in zero gravity. They spent tens of thousands of dollars developing a pen that would write in any position and even zero gravity. The Soviet space program had the same problem they took a pencil. Okay I was looking for a NASA solution. Put me in my place. :D:D:D
