New Forum Feedback

What do you think of the new forum? Any suggestions to the devs?

Overall I like it, looks nicer than before. The only thing I think could be improved is the amount of text on the front page. To fix this, maybe the forum topics such as, "Help" and "House Rules" could be normal text instead of the current hyperlinked text. It's not like those current hyperlinks go anywhere anyways. Or if the subtopics were tabbed over so each section is more easily distinguishable as unique.

 

It's seems that, if I want to post on another country forum, I need to log out from the game and then log in again, after changing the country in the top-left corner.
In the old forum, when I clicked on the "forum" button, I could chose which forum I want to read and post on it.

 

Yes. Discussions here are more interesting I had to log out and change the language into "english" and log in again, this really s*cks.

 

Well, a bit better, a bit not. Will not go into details before I have used it extensively, which is not so common for me nowadays. But two points stand out:

• the first page is just too bulky, too long, not an improvement of structure at all, definitelly a big mistake.
• the alerts bullet points have dark text on dark background, which switches even darker a few seconds after first displayed. On highliting it you can't see any text at all as the text and highlight colour are the same.

Due to the condition of my eyesight I am usually more conscious of these hard to read colour patterns which may not bother those with perfectly sharp vision. That occasional dark blue background x orange text doesn't particularly attract me either.

On the positive side I noticed two points also:

• I appreciate a bit bigger font used throughout.
• "New post" button was included, like it was on old forum, which improves the comfort of daily usage a lot. Well done for this one.

What surprises is that they didn't start official discussion on that nor did they do some sneak preview using print screens to see the reactions before implementing the changes. The first mistake I pointed out could have been easily avoided if some preview polls had been carried out.
Also I'm still missing "Thumbs Up" smilie. How could that one be ommited?

For all the rest I might comment later.

@joookeeer: If your poll included some type of "yes and now" option I would have gone for that. From the 3 options you included I can't correctly chose any.

Also noticed now, that when typing users nick after "@" the "automatic advice" pop-up window at the bottom left doesn't actually display the carracters. Maybe because the background and the text have the same colour?

 

I am reserving judgement for a while till I use the forum a little more. So far I like some things not sure about others.

I agree with Nortoncommander the color choices are marginal. Thanks for the larger fonts, but the dark on dark colors are hard to read. TIme will tell.

I do have one complaint. If you click on "top" to go to top of the page it hyper links to Big Points game advert page. This would be funny but you can not navigate back to the forum from this page.

 

I totally agree!!! I believe that they made it on purpose, so that it will be more difficult to check what players from other countries think and say, and coordinate our reactions. We asked for better communication, and they actually made it more difficult.
