I had to move some commercial buildings up to the inventory because my energy usage went to 75% and I needed 100% production for my farm and mill. This caused my mood to drop a lot, so now my population is at 75%. Will this affect my cloth and sweets drops from rent collection?

Someone else need to answer as I don't know.
An alternate solution is to put back your commercial and just before you collect put a few energy guzzling residential in storage. Then put them back and keep shifting houses.
This is boring as heck so I only recommend it as a temporary solution.

The only permanent solution is building more power plants :( This has the disadvantage of being the real downer of putting a strain on your mood, since they are the biggest drains on the mood category. So just watch your levels and plan ahead. Beleive it or not after a while you will get to a level where this will not be a major issue for your city. Good luck. :D

Thanks - this is what I have been doing since I didn't know if mood affected the drops or not.

Unfortunately, I do not have any more small power plant permits and can't but any since I used up my MM buying 2 Mystery Buildings. Those acquisitions, and the recent unlocking of the plot with the level 3 farm put me over the edge. I new I was close, so I bought the coal fired power plant, but I didn't have enough resources to build it - it's just sitting there waiting to be built. :(

All you can do is horde supplies until you have what you need. As TellusXIV says Ouch! Fortunately time and rent will come to your rescue. All you need is some patients. It is hard to do but we all went through this phase at one point (some of us more than once). Good luck. :)

Also wishing you good luck....been there, done that; am now at such high levels it takes a lot to even shift my mood/power bars :) Yes, to answer your question, population will affect drop items. If a building has, say, four residents, and population is at 75%, only three residents live in the building. Drops are calculated based on type of resident, density, and building Level (and other factors I'm sure). This is exactly why lower Level buildings drop infrequently and smaller numbers...while big stuff kicks out a lot more. Eventually, you will get to where you can collect 400-600 drop items in one collection run through your city, and you will look back at this and have a good buh-wah-ha-ha laugh ;)

That is so funny! I will start building more larger buildings and I'm sure it will make this a lot easier. Thanks for answering my question! :)
