It would be great if there is snow on the ground in winter. What you think? That could add to the atposhpere :)

A couple of questions comes to mind when would you do winter? January, February or June, July. For how long? How often? How much? What would be the effect? We do have the Snow area in the Mountain play field. This is an idea worthy of discussion. I do not see this coming any time soon. Thanks for the idea. What do the rest of you think. :)

I think it's a great idea. It would be nice to see the different seasons in RC. One way to do it is to give the player the choice to change 'the weather'

Snow in Rising Cities is much more fun than snow in the real world. And getting to choose the weather sounds fun. But it would probably involve a fair amount of extra programming. So we will have to wait and see if the programmers think it's feasible.

Hmmm....interesting idea, but would rather see the programming work going towards different event prizes, booster pack rewards, special buildings, etc. Snow is in the mountain area, so there it is already. Changes for the seasons sounds better...maybe trees turning all Autumnal colored, or snow on the building rooftops? Will sit back and watch on this one I guess. Am always up for improvements, but understand the code issues too.

I was thinking like christmas. December, January and Febreary. And so the country is white, not too much. Yeah, and maybe sometimes there could snowing :D And like Geflin said said, snow on the building rooftops.
I know this is comblicated idea but I think it's great :)

I agree with you Geflin I would rather see the time spent on other priorities before they tackled something this big. Upgraded RI's, better rewards, new industries and residences, etc. :)

    NO WAY!!!
I get enough winter OUTSIDE, I don't need to it come here. I strongly suspect you live in an area that doesn't get sloppy, slushy, have-to shovel-it snow and ice.

Besides, the mountain IS a "winter" setting.

NOTE-- I would not mind a temporary Christmas theme that included snow, but not a permanent one! (or, say in conjunction with a winter-themed event)

I think there is no winter or christmas without snow. I live in Finland and I love snow ♥

Submarine you are fortunate to live in an area where you receive the classical Northern European traditional seasonal weather, but most of us live else where and our traditions and life styles reflect this. Most of us do not see snow over the Holidays and our traditions reflect this. For half of the planet the holiday's come during the middle of the hottest time of the year.

I still think the idea is worthy of discussion but the logistics are quite daunting. How about snow in July for the fun of it. :D

New industries....hmmmmm.....how's about a steel mill and steel beams, for higher level buildings? That would be neat, and would add another item to the markets. The quarry spots that exist already could be altered to let you mine either granite or smelting ore. The benefit would be requiring less steel beams than wood beams for construction...the tradeoff longer production time and higher cost/resale value in the marketplace. Apologies...not trying to hijack the thread. As for the weather thing, I do really think there already are such effects, but having the trees change for the Seasons would be neat (especially if colors meant more Happy and bare trees meant less or something).

To make steel you all so need limestone and coal (converted into coke) So you would need Iron Mines, Coal Mines, Limestone Quarry, Coke ovens, and Steel Mills. Not an objection just observation. :D:D I like the idea. Also need a better transportation system to move the large quantity of materials around. Do I hear the sound of a train whistle in the back ground or a barge. :p

I would like to see some sunbathers and swimmers during the summer also. Why should the winter get all of the attention. ;)

  15. A Change in seasons implies more changes then just a little coding, especially when we speak about winter.
Why? Well, because you can't have only the streets and grass covered into snow, but you also need all the deco and the buildings to be covered in snow. Which means a lot of time spending in covering them in snow. Time which, in my opinion, it should be spent on creating new buildings, new playfields, new deco.

Plus that, giving the fact that the farm doesn't have a greenhouse, it could be difficult to produce potatoes, tomatoes and all the other stuff :)

We cann't have that the programmer always have to work hard ;) - they also need a cozy little job from time to time so they can rest their heads   :p

And if were warned in good time that the winter is comming - then we can stock up on tomatoes and so on  - or maybe a greenhouse could be a add-on to the farm ;)

All wonderful ideas, true. But still would prefer something entirely or mostly new than small adjustments to what is already there. Now, if seasons could affect production, then that would indeed add a challenge to the game that is not there now. But, then, is it a casual browser game or a complex strategy game? Hmmmm? New playfields are always a plus, and like with the Seaside and Mountains, can reflect seasonal changes at least a little. I'm 50/50 on the weather thing....
