I would certainly like to see an industrial area for our production facilities but am unsure how that would work with clay pits, ponds, fishing spots. Also, such a playfield would be of little use for residential buildings. Same goes for the waterpark: great idea for mood decorations, but how to incorporate residential buildings? Who lives in an amusement park? Even with four playfields, the greatest need especially for high Level mayors is space for residential living and associated commercial needs fulfillment. This is why I voted Western or Old Town or Space. Space actually makes more sense as "Futuristic" and that would be cool. Western could be a desert style with cactus, and old style buildings or ranches. Old Town would be like Victorian/Gothic styles? But overall, whatever they give us will be good as long as it serves the needed function: more space for more housing. Oh, and some neat buildings (like the Mountain area did).

We can shove all our tenements and studio apartments into an industrial area though. Would definitely like more buildings with old and future designs. Really though, most of the thematics come down to the buildings and geography. Desert and underwater are definitely cool, but getting into zoo's or parks and the like just doesn't make sense, unless it's an industrial park, anyway.

  4. the water park is only for rides and decorations and not all of the water park will be for decorations but half water park and half residential area. the factory town will only be for our industrys and why don't people be living in a factorys too?. on the clay pits there will be brickyards,on ponds there can be water works and on fishing spots there can be fishing industrys. underwater can be both residential and industrial zones and for decorations you can have coral and plastic fish,sharks,dolphins,ecc........ . the zoo can be a way to earn some money by having animals example:lion 1,000 money in 5 hours. western can be like the wild west (old west) whit cactus, ranches like gelfin said. island can be surrounded whit sea and you can build on dry land and on the sea (cool!!). old town can Victorian
/Gothic style like gelfin said too. ice island can be like the Mountain area but instead of sea it can be frozen sea. and space town can be like floating ( roads floating, buildings floating, decorations floating ecc...).

I suppose if an area was designed to hold industrial production and decorations, and only such, AND it was an extra playfield given for that purpose, then waterpark style deco would be ok. Or if it was an extension of the main urban field, like an "industrial area" and you could put your worker specific buildings there along with production. But truly, we mix these in already, so a "factory" or "waterpark" field doesn't make full sense. We already have an 'island' though it's actually a seacoast peninsula. So, am partly convinced on an industrial area, but would prefer a different scenic (like we got with the seacoast, mountains, and suburbs) and some new houses.

Having areas designated as theme parks turns me off because the whole area has to be themed more particularly than geography-based things like the mountain or a desert. I'd rather have special deco/buildings serve that purpose so you can place them anywhere. An industrial park is one thing that would need a specific area simply due to how the game works, though really, that system does get mostly irrelevant later on in the game. Just adding themes haphazardly though is bound for failure.

Things like space can be fun, sure, but at the same time it can get silly, even for RC. It doesn't fit to just have it floating there, or be there just because it has a theme. Build a spaceport and lunar colony, okay. You can get future without going that far though, just with building-design. Underwater cities are definitely underrepresented in city games, and you can span retro to future designs easily. Deserts are good stuff, but there is a lot more out there than wild west styled architecture. A lot of retro and future potential there too.

Exactly, and well stated. Guess I'm leaning towards the space idea more and more (i.e. like the Futuristic Tower Block); but think it's enough to have ultra-modern designs (do we really need or want floating buildings?).

If you look at the clouds to the west of the city there appears to be a pond that would house a brewery so who knows what the dev's are doing. It seems to be taking a long time to login like it did when they expanded with the mountain area.

It seems a little strange that it is taking this long to find the problem of being able to login. It has been over 52 hours since I've been able to login. So why the gap in the clouds to let you see the pond unless they are planning on another expansion.

That gap has been there for a while. Can't remember if it was always there, but it isn't new. There are a bunch of things outside of the accessible field that are just for show.

I think all of these suggested play fields are interesting but very one level. They are fairly restrictive to one theme and one concept. Personally of the choices I think the dessert has the most realistic potential. You can build any type of structure in a dessert just look at Dubai or Las Vegas. I would expect a more generic playing field. Lake Country of England, The Polynesian Islands, or American Plains could all support any type of structure with a variety of different stylistic and esthetic desire. That is it my two cents worth. What ever we get if we get one will be something we do not expect is my bet. :D

Let us hope and pray that is the reason....though it's disappointing they would not just say "sory for the glitch, surprise in progress, please be patient" so we don't sit here fuming all week!
