    Hello Mayors,

As promised we have returned with a new poll.
This time you can choose multiple answers.

This poll will end Friday, 21.03.2014 at 23:59 PM CET.

    Your Rising Cities Team.

  2. I want the game without giftings. No more funny FB type social games so boring with constant need to beg neighbours for gifts to complete tasks.

So, first tell me how you want to implement gifting and if you intend to spoil this game in the likeness of FB games before you ask me this question please.

I would like to gift PP/EP and normal goods. I would like to receive building materials and loot-o-matic tokens. :D

I second Norton's comment. Please take into account that people who are willing to sit long hours in front of their computer screens, moving buildings around, are not necessarily people in need of more social contact.
OK, I rephrase it: no people wishing to have more social contact.

If you're really not after more social contact then what are you doing in the forum? :p

I'm still in 2 minds about this.
Most gifting is pretty annoying (Facebook games) but if done well, it could be a great addition to the game.

If it's going to be gifting like 100PP to friends daily, it's going to be pointless and not even worth the hassle. (Speaking as a high-level player)
They(Bigpoint) may aswell use their resources coming up with something that is going to actually benefit the game.

I'm personally of the thought that the game needs something fresh and new to liven it up again. Especially at the higher levels, there's not a lot to get excited about.

For the record, I voted for 1, 2, 7 & 8. Xpresso would be voted for, too, if it was an option.

  7. To clarify: I'm not against free will socialising. I do dislike game being spoiled by tasks dependent on gifting among players. Long time ago I left FB games exactly for this reason. They were good games at the start, but then they turned into a nasty gimme-that-gift game which I grew completely disgusted of. Since it is not clear what BP is after I use caution with these ideas and don't want to support them in taking another foolish turn that would just spoil things for me.

I'm not a very experienced gamer, but it seems to me that the moment gifting is implemented, some active mind will start thinking on how to "develop" it further or make it somehow exclusive or something. If that happens, spoler of the game is just a matter of time. On the other hand, Farmerama has gifts too and they work just fine. No nuisance, just a bit of help. Or a huge help if you have good friends. If it was implemented like that here, I would have no objection. Just not sure RC team can make smart decisions on that level.

Regarding socialising, in Farmerama it's really not a social feature, unless you make friends with somebody, which I have. Most people there prefer playing their own game without being disturbed despite these "social" features.

I would be for gifting any item in the game. I also agree with several people on the thread I would prefer not to have this become a FB type game where everyone of my family and friends are harassed with messages and requests from the game. I would like to be able to send a gift to my friends in the game some product or item they need to complete a project that I have in excess.

    Examples:

Player A needs 50 Granite panels to upgrade City hall player B has 2000 Granite panels. Player B could gift friend Player A 50 Granite panels to complete project.

Player A While Urban renewal project (eliminating smaller residences for higher occupancy types) finds they have an excess of level 3 fruit stands. Rather than destroying said building could offer the fruit stand to a newer player as a gift or at least the building permit.

i don't see any benefits in gifts, only bad things... i wont mention them again because they have already been pointed out by the previous posters. this is a pointless waste of time and effort from devs. game needs alot of improvements and add'ons, gift option is not one of them!

there should be a poll option : no gifts.

The most requested social feature is the simply to be able to view your friend's cities. As I said regarding this in the Producer's Letter... let's walk before we run w/ all this.

Perhaps a better implementation would be a "private sale" of goods or products between friends... so you could sell your product to a friend at, let's say 25% below the market minimum price.

But yeah... gifting sounds nice, except when it becomes a required portion of the game (you need a certain gift in order to advance, etc). Then you're no longer the mayor, you're the politician and extortionist.

  11. i agree with you wiz one thing missing in the poll.
9 is that i dont want it
    that would get my vote;)

If you want to show others your city, you can do so up loading a screenshot in the relevant section of the forum.
That, to me, is ideal. Not everyone is keen for others to take a look at their own city.

I don't mind the idea of the game becoming more social, but those who are not interested in that shouldn't be penalised, ie you shouldn't have to beg 5 friends for land permits to buy another piece of land (as an example).

It shouldn't be pathetically small either. Ie, get 1 vitamin, like you do with the tree sometimes. It should be worthwhile.
It should be done right (if it means it takes time, then so be it) and it should add an extra dimension to the game.

I'm on Norton's page here. I like to use my friends in farmerama when needed for event gifts, but not have to harass them or be harrassed. I also like the times when my friends are able to gift me an animal stable or pet I've not been able to "win" yet. I also like being gifted EP when my friends level up.

Another option I would like to see in friending.

    Wish list for Friend option:
    - can give everyday gifts like specific seasonal, deco, production or star products - example: each day I can gift expresso or rolls to each friend. (edit - agree with MrMungo (sorry - need to keep who I'm quoting and agreeing with right) that should be worth it - so multiple items instead of 1)
    - can give "special window" gifts - say once every 6 months I can gift "permits only" of any single house given or won in the game - example: once every 6 months I can gift any permit I have, like a pagoda to a friend only.
    - can privately trade between friends on a regular basis - example: I can have a "friends only" market to offer goods for them only
    - receive EP when friends level up

Just to make myself clear, of course I like some socializing (or I wouldn't be here). What I do not like -- as everybody else on this thread, it seems -- is being forced into it.

I have not much experience with friends/gift feature. From the previous posts it seems to work as some kind of limited barter market, which of course has advantages (wouldn't mind swapping some of my PP for anything else, for example). Helping each other can also be a nice feature. But I would be very cautious on implementing these features and not shifting the balance of the game again -- as was done with the introduction of the ERC and other features, which moved the game towards gambling.

In the games I've played, you need "permissions" from friends to upgrade something, or friends give you energy, which is needed to fulfill a task.

Like the majority above I'm not a big fan of gifting per say but a friendly IOU wouldn't be a bad way to do it. I don't think gifting should be seen as something we 'should' have to partake in.

Sorry, Tamy, I wasn't trying to get at you. I'd hate the gifting idea, if it became like a FB game. The number of requests I have to help x or y on FB is ludicrous, and I have NEVER responded. Not interested. Any "Get 10 friends to gift you a tomato" or whatever is horrendous and would drive me away immediately.

But I do love the forum, and if the gifting option meant I could occasionally help someone else then I'd do that. They'd need to find a good way of stopping people cheating with multiple accounts though.

  19. I realize the devs are under pressure to make this a more social game. I just want go build. In fact they could throw away the market and let me have more farms and sawmills. That would be heaven.
