  1. Another thing which has not been addressed is this fixed placement of brickyards and Breweries.

I wonder if it serves any other purpose then obstructing the planning and game development.

It needs some better solution than what we have. As it is, it's not helping anything. Just an unavoidable nuisance.

Do not forget about the Fisheries.

But is this not like real life. Resources are in specific location and our cities have to adjust to there locations.

In reality these features give many cities there unique and famous features. The New York skyline would not look as it does if it were not for the geology of Manhattan Island. Paris, Rome, New Orleans, San Francisco, Tokyo, Mumbai, Rio de Janeiro, Cario, etc look the same if the geographic features were different.

  4. Nothing is like in real life in this game.
No. Hardly anything in this game is like in real life. Which real city has 10 coal power plants to power just a few dozen houses? How many cities do you know with 3, 4 or 5 brickyards right in the middle of the city? I could go on, but just these two examples of many others shoud be enough to get you to reality. :)

It might be justifiable if there was just 1 resource like that right at the outskirt of the city. As it is, is just unnecessary and not very well thought-through idea which mainly serves no other purpose then nuisance.

In the early 1900's through the early 1960's almost every major city in US and Europe had more than this number of coal fired power plants. It was a decision of these cities at that time to change fuel sources from coal to other fuels and increased efficiencies that closed many of them and they were moved out of the cities to rural areas.

We can do the same ourselves by building wind, solar, hydro and nuclear plants and dismantling the coal plants. Now if the developers were to offer a conversion to natural gas (which happened to many real plants). Some new types of plants such as natural gas, geo thermal (idea for the mountain play area), tidal (seaside area) power plants that would be good for the environment.

  6. So are you suggesting that these developpers are at least half the century behind? :D :D :D If that is the case we should be building our cities from wooden blocks, not on computers. :) :) :)

I (very) moderately like the fact that breweries and brickyards require a special location, as it adds some challenge to the game. What I do not like, is the limited number of these locations, which eliminates all choice (and I ended by giving up one brewery and one brickyard).
So maybe the solution would be to add some clay beds and ponds -- also in the new promised play field? This would also make the field more diversified, and could be used to create some nice corners in our cities.
Edit: just realized adding them in the new play field won't help us much, unless there is a way to move industry between play fields.
And picking up on your other idea: maybe we could also have another energy source in the new play field?

No we should be using mainframes the size of a large office at a baud rate (remember that) of about 64 bps if we are lucky 128 bps over our rotary phones leased from the original AT & T. Had the modem been invented yet? Hard to believe that we have come so far. To think to send this message would have taken about five minutes and we would have thought that was amazingly fast.

Tamy -- As long as we get or can purchase additional building permits the new areas would work out fine. I am hoping we get some new and interesting twists to the game with the introduction of the new area next month. I see a lot of potential.

The brickyard/Brewery locations don't bother me much... a minor inconvenience. However, I do wish we could move production plants to other playing fields, like we can other items.
