    I can purchase the brickyard but it will not let me place it anywhere in my city. I need help!

    Brickyards can only be placed over clay pits. These are discolored areas that look different that the regular green play field. If you haven't purchased the plots with the clay pits, you cannot place the brickyard. You will know when you can place the brickyard because the area will turn green, indicating you have found the correct place.

    If you placed another building over the clay pit, you will need to move it. When in Move mode, the clay pits are indicated by a little pop-up with a lump of red clay in it. Here is the FAQ:
