You sell advertising on a number of potential customers and a per click basis. So if the number of people registered for the game is what makes an advertiser want to put an ad on the site. How much they pay per click, reduce the cost per click the more potential advertisers to use the service. So reducing the reward would be reducing the cost of the click to the advertiser. We (the players) think that MM's cost BP nothing but in BP's view it is real currency that they are giving away or selling. Yes a stretch, but does have some value in dollars, euro, yen, etc.

I think many of the issues with the game are BP's view that they are giving things away that they believe have real value; when in reality they don't.
Where this might be true is if the MM gained from the cinema means I do not purchase MM with cash. It is not true for myself, but may be for others.
So, BP needs to realise that the only way that they can earn actual revenue from many players is from the adverts played on log on and in the cinema.
A suggestion might be that part of a weekly quest is to watch 20 "films" in the cinema. I would be as happy doing that as picking up 500 street boulders. (This, of course, assumes that the films would be there to watch).

But they do make money off the playeres simply from the fact you are a player. The more players the more they can charge per ad. I like the idea of a quest to watch movies at the cineplex. Maybe we could get some epic RI's and MM's for watching twenty films.

Free game or not.....I (like many American consumers) like to get "more for my buck", even when in the long run, I actually am not. To speak more plainly, a business that gives me (say $10) of free value is more likely to get my ($100) worth of business that year than a similar business that does not. Granted, I seek quality before quantity and can afford to do so...but have been down generic row also. But that is not the point.

The point is, RC is a free game...but so are many others. I stick with RC because I like the game, and it gives me value when I do spend my cash on it. There are times when I gripe (and legitimately so in my opinion) and times when I give praise. But as a customer I expect to be happy with the services. If RC was a pay to play game, I would still play. Here's the kicker: I think the devs listen and react more than most of us give them credit for. I yet again got $70 MM from a tree today. Too many times in just the last two weeks for this to be coincidence or luck.

But to clarify the ongoing topic of discussion (and I do not often disagree with the cat, so begging forgiveness here)...yes, in advertising terms MM has revenue value for BP. But in and of itself, MM has little inherent value (digital money for digital items in a free digital game). If BP was, say, to gift every single player with 1k MM, BP would not lose much actual cash value in the real world; the exception being the small percentage of MM that would have been bought instead of given away. However, if every player then spend just $2 on a $500 MM pack because the building they really wanted cost just a bit more than 1k MM, in reality BP would make millions.

Hence my stance that the better way to promote Cinema use is bigger rewards not smaller ones. After all, the cost to the advertiser is relative to the price BP charges them. If an advertiser gets MM for less than we do (and you know they do) then the difference between 5 MM and 15 MM is peanuts...especially if BP charges them whatever they are charging for a 5 MM reward but lets us get 15 MM anyways. The extra 10 MM doesn't really cost BP much of anything, and that is what I think brucenic meant. The extra MM would get more players watching and encourage more advertising.

So I think it is actually trying to stimulate more MM purchase that BP reduced the influx of free MM; but they get their economics backwards. Higher prices result in a increase of the elasticity of demand causing a leftward shift in the marginal price benefit (go back to school boys ;) ). Layman's terms: costs more=buy less...costs less=buy more. I have received so much free MM the past two weeks that BP has me purring like a kitten stuffed full of milk. I spent for MM yesterday, just to get a bread basket to cover the Solar Skyscraper I won in the Loot-O-Matic and had immediately upgraded to Level 2 with the free MM I had received. Not to mention, should this tree bound MM windfall continue, I will likely get another starter pack (want that Old Firehouse)...and maybe some extra Loot-O-Matic tickets. Why am I willing to part with my cash? I have about a $50 budget next month for my games, and right now RC is acting right so likely will get a good piece of that. May not seem like much, but if every one of us was so moved...well, do the math, right? BTW, to the white rabbit and the devs should you be listening...a tip of the hat, and a thank you.

But "Uncle" Geflin we are making the same point really, from the opposite ends. There is no difference in the value as you say, and the number of MM's at the cineplex and the number given at the tree, city hall etc. have stayed fairly constant, for me also. Therefore the net effect has been zero for me as a player. I am sure some players have been hurt and some have benefited from the change. I think this was another attempt to balance the game to some ideal we know nothing about. Because we are not told what is the desired balance.

Quite true, Sir Billyjim, we are making two sides of the same point like two knights with their backs to each other (back, back, foul MM stealing demons!) :D I actually agree reducing the cost of advertising (to the advertiser) might be part of why they did this, and for exactly the reasons you stated; you were spot on from that angle. I do note that the recent tree borne MM windfall is a marked difference from pre-Cineplex reduction, and that I think it is evidence BP has actually listened to the players of late. The Easter event announcement supports that theory. Perhaps game balance was also a goal:rolleyes: All this thinking is making my bird brain quiver...*passes you a double shot of Bailey's, pours one for self*. Cheers....

Thank you kind sir the Bailey's was appreciated. Also more and varied advertisers means more money for development and additions for the game. ;) Could that mean we are in store for even more goodies? We can but dream.

Way to go, honeywest:D I am willing to bet it was $70 as that seems to be the most common amount these days. Water that tree well, did you?;)
