Deferring specialisations in ERS

If I defer a specialisation in the ERS, is it possible that I will be offered a different one next time round? Last time I deferred an offer of Contamination training but the specialist just kept coming back with Contamination as the option so eventually I caved. I've just deferred Medic training (I already have two!) and am wondering whether this was the right decision. Has anyone deferred specialisation training and been offered a different option as a result?

 

I reject offered specialists all the time. Sometimes the offer stays the same for another round or two, and will then change, sometimes it changes right away. I never take on anyone I don't need, as this takes away the change of getting what I do need, and with two specialists of the same kind it takes away a spot in the department for a beginner who could turn into the desired candidate.

Of course it can take a while, often the system only offers me the specialist I want around level 7 or so. But for me this system works quite well, most of the time I have the complete squad in all three departments.

 

Thanks, that was the kind of answer I was looking for: if deferring never changed the kind of specialism offered then obviously there would be no benefit in deferring! But if it can change then it is worth waiting to see whether I get something which I can use.
