Just curious on how experience points are calculated for each building and as you upgrade them. I know that certain RI's can increase experience on buildings.

The number of experience points is related to the number of residents in the home. But the exact formula escapes my memory. Some one did the calculations many months ago for a basic unimproved residence. Maybe someone with better memory or search abilities can find the thread (I had no luck). As you say also residential improvements and needs improvements can and do alter the number of EP you earn from each residence. You also get EP from producing products at manufacturing facilities and even laying streets and clearing brush in your town earn you points. There are a lot of ways to earn the Experience Points.

I personally have never found it necessary to do the calculations for the individual residences. I just collect them as I go and reap the rewards. Good luck and great guestion. I am looking forward to see the answer myself now. :D

Thanks billyjim. Just wondering which buildings I should upgrade first but I guess it doesn't matter much as I upgrade when I have the materials on hand

Happy Easter to you and your family. :)

I already have enough buildings to sustain my PP and student points and was thinking of another strategy that I could use to earn experience points. I upgrade and do look at the benefits that I can reap. I do upgrade when I have enough materials as it keeps me from getting bored with the game and am just looking for another view to strategize my plans in the future.

I have bought all 142 plots available, no more quests to finish and participate in as many events that are not boring anymore. I am currently at level 46. What level are you on? :)

There are a few threads on this already, but to actually answer your question, it's basically:

((Base Rent + Base Needs) / 10) + Mastery Challenge & RI bonuses (which are additive).
    So challenge awards of 10% & 25% + one RI for 10% = 45%.
    Ex: ((100 + 120) / 10) + 45% = 31.9, which would round to 32. I think it always rounds up, at least for the display.

I'm pretty sure the rent/need specialty doesn't result in increased XP, as rent/needs increases from mastery challenges and RIs don't either. This is why base rent/needs (before bonuses) has to be used, as that determines base XP.

For upgrading, it varies drastically, even for the same number of materials between buildings. Not sure if it's a particular formula or specific to each building. RIs won't affect that though; they will only affect what you get on rent collection.
There are some links to XP tables for upgrade stages in this thread: Link
These are the only ones I recall. They are in French, but they should be easy enough to read as we share a lot of vocabulary.

I don't think you need to worry about it much. In the long-run, I don't think it will be significant enough to affect your progress drastically as all you'll be getting are more permits, which you know you'll still have to pick-and-choose.

In short, short-timer, high base-profit buildings will get you the most benefit and are best-suited for XP RIs, but you have to be online often. If you aren't, it's hardly worth going for XP as the minor increase won't add up much. Mega XP days are an option too, and the loot-o-matic can give you a ton as well if you have bonus tokens.

Thank You Arsuru. I am French/Canadian but forgot a lot of my French but I'll give it a look and see what I come up with.

Sometimes. Depends on… a lot. It can't translate these though, as they are images.

Could always use OCR, I guess.

Oh, of course. How silly of me to just assuming run the page through a translator or auto translate. =/

I knew you would come to my feeble memory's short comings. Thanks.

Do not tell my kids that they think it is an evil device from the olden days and have no idea how to use it. Touch screens and auto spell are killing the written word.
