There has to be a better way to manage what your emergency services can do than these silly little one square objects. The do nothing but hinder our ability to make cities look nice. Also, they make no sense. In the real world what a emergency service can handle as far as the area it covers is based on manpower, not hydrant, not cameras, and not FA boxes.

    How to fix it?

Forget the range on emergency service buildings. Have the % chance of success dependent solely on the personnel used. Of course you will need mess with numbers but this would be a much better system overall. More importantly it would allow us to actually make our cities look decent.

  2. You are right. As if there were not enough space restrictions already. I switched it off pretty much for this reason: To make it look decent. :)

Some day, probably, ERS will have to be completely reworked if somebody comes up with a reasonably better solution.

I concur. Get rid of the bloody things!
Either get rid or be able to upgrade them.

  4. they actually do use fire hydrants in real life but back to the point eve though i kind of am on point i disabled it for the very same reason and the fact i have to have students and the fact emergencies go off left right and center and many other reasons

You completely misunderstood my point. Having or lacking a fire hydrant does not effect a cities fire departments ability to combat fire is my point. Sure, they make it easier, but they are not necessary as many major cities have tank trucks.

MickeyC69 do not take this the wrong way. I do not want to live in the city where they do not have fire hydrants. Even the largest tanker trucks will run dry in a matter of minutes fighting a fire with out resupply. The largest I could find is 5000 US gallons or 19,000 liters.

Now back to the game. They are a pain and I have yet to decide what to do I am reading all of the posts with interest. I have been upgrading my earlier facilities with fewer of the later more advance (covering more area) ER boosters. Not sure of my final decision. Thanks everyone for your input. I will keep watching. :)

I'm not saying cities don't have them, I am saying they aren't necessary for complete coverage. Besides, hydrants are on road sides, not their own separate space wasting structure. hint hint.

Either way, I found out how to shut EMS off completely and have done so. So much better without it, though I did enjoy the micromanaging.

Well done, hope you do not miss the micro-managing of your EMS to much.

the ems gives nice mood over the coverage area so its a double win if ur playing with EMS
my vote on this idea is a definite "NO" there is just 1 pf with EMS, its not that big of a deal. deal with it
