As the title of the thread suggests, I think it would be better if the market always defaults to the buy tab. As it is, it defaults to the sell tab when one has offers for sale. This isn't something players need to see or monitor constantly and it causes us to loose time when we want to buy something, possibly costing us a good deal. It's just more clicking than necessary. A nuisance, especially when checking the market often.

The only time we need to see the sell tab is when making or collecting upon an offer, or in the likely-rare event that one wants to cancel one. If an offer sells or expires, it could be acceptable to default to the sell tab when that flag is raised, but otherwise — and even so, in my opinion — it's better to default to the buy tab, as that is going to get more action over-all.

You make a good argument. But, you can make an equally good argument the other way around. So the decision ends up being a completely arbitrary one on of the designers. I could live with the choose either way. We are not talking about a major difference in my opinion. So good luck in your campaign Arsuru. :)

my market opens to sell only when i have offers running, if i have no offers it opens to buy. which makes perfect sense to me.

@wizardelo But to me that is pointless. There isn't a reason to see your own offers unless you're collecting them after they've sold/expired, generally. There is nothing to manage, and if you really need to cancel an offer you can get there manually. Even if you aren't buying, you'll probably just wait for your offers to sell or expire, so still no reason to default to the sell tab. Except perhaps only when an offer does sell or expire.

In short, I see little practical benefit to being shown your offers every time you open the market. It's mostly useless to be shown that information regularly, it wastes time, and makes us click more. Nonsensical to me.

Edit: Let me give an example. I sell cheese regularly. Cheese is not a fast mover, likely due to the buildings needing cheese having long timers and many being able to supply themselves. It often takes several days for an offer to sell. That is several days of inconvenience when I want to be buying during that time. I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's a minor thing, sure, but with significant impact.

i think game is trying to tell you something, my offers never last more then an hour or so, each time i log and i visit market, i have something to claim for my sales. or i dont have any offers left. :) maybe its not the game, :p

Nah, I'm not selling too high, if that's what you are getting at. Only cheese tends to stick around; my other offers go much faster, but I'm often trying to buy while having an offer up, which is the problem.

Cheese sure could stand to have a raise in price though.

  7. I agree. It should be set to "sell" tab only if you have to pick money from sold stuff or if you want to cancel an offer.
