I love the new upgrade layer, apart from one thing:
It shows whether I have enough materials for each stage, but it shows that I have eg 400/400 reqd, not my actual stock. This is fine, except that if you need 400 for stage 1 and 700 for stage 2 and you only have 900 in your warehouse then it says:

    400/400 for stage 1 and
    700/700 for stage 2.

Which is somewhat misleading. So could it either say 900/400 for stage 1, and 900/700 for stage 2, and then at least you know your stock compared to what is required, or better still, 400/400 for stage 1 and 500/700 for stage 2 showing that you are short of materials for the upgrade.

Fortunately I have my own spreadsheet that tells me when I have enough materials, but would be nice if system could too - after all, it has up to date date from my warehouse in the way that my spreadsheet doesn't.

I love the new upgrade layer but agree that the display does mislead you into thinking that you have more product than you have. Could lead one to start project with insufficient product on hand. It would be nice to see the total on hand like skb13 suggested. Thanks.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the new upgrade layer?

At first, I hated the new upgrade layer. You have to click so darn many times to get from one step to the other and use a tiny little scrollbar on the right to get to the last steps. It just seemed cumbersome and silly.

It definitely gives Bigpoint the opportunity to make money though since it has a button to pay off every little thing on there.

After upgrading a few buildings using it, I have gone from hating it to being neutral about the thing. I do miss the expresso though.

the scroll-bar needs to be wider, each time i have to scroll its a nightmare.
and yes i agree with skb13 it is a bit misleading if you only have 1000 beams it will show both 500/500 and 700/700 as doable...
the overall is good but there are a few tweaks that would make it even better.

Yeah the scrolling is a bit of a pain but like I've said in another thread, the ability to see how long it takes to upgrade is a very useful feature.

I agree with SKB that it would be nice if the new upgrade window could accurately show the quantities you have in stock against the quantities required. I fell foul of the misleading display on the first day it was introduced. DUH!

I also agree with Hipshot and Wizardelo that the scroll bar in the new upgrade window is far too skinny.

The overall display of information in the new window is good though, a definite improvement on the old version. A couple of tweaks/fixes and it would be great.

I would like to add my voice to the group. Over all the upgrade is great, just needs a few tweaks. A more visible scroll bar and cumulative totals rather than individual totals.

Cumulative totals won't work folks. If you have more than one construction going at a time, they can't possibly predict when things will happen to use up materials. Also, you can sell them on the market and make all the totals wrong. And, just to be annoying, you can start another construction or harvest a manufacturer and throw it off further.

All they can do is tell you if it will work at the time you look at it for the particular building you're looking at.

That is what I intended to mean by cumulative for the one project. Sorry for not being specific.

of course it would be much comfortable, if you can see the real resources you need, but each time when you start a new building, the system has to recalculate and I'm sure, this would take a lot of resources, which are better used for other important changes. The scroll bar is a little mess, this should be changed to a bigger column.

My appologies, skb13. I did not see this thread by the time I started mine, so have copied my post here, as well.

id like to add a finding that might somehow circumvent the "slim" scrollbar, mouse scroll works inside the upgrade layer. i;m never going to use the scrollbar EVER!!!!

so from my point of view it can be removed completely. no point in putting time and effort in it, get the other issues with the layer fixed, like making stocks point to the actual build potential.

Absolutely, but I would have thought that they could make it more accurate for the particular building that you're looking at.

Yes they could. However, if someone has a building under construction already and checks, they'll still complain when they get to the next step and they've already used up the resource. It's no worse in that regard than it was before.

If you use MM on the construction, their answer is absolutely correct for the later stages.

Following wizardelo's suggestion (BTW, I did not do it before as I was not aware one is able to delete own threads, these days  ) I am copying my post here, from previously started thread on the same topic.

Firstly, let me say thank you BP for providing us with this window. It offers much better overview of each step of the construction - something I had to do with switching between the warehouse and -Wizz-'s FAQs, before.

However, couple of remarks, that can hopefully improve it.

One, the construction window does not take into account the total amount of each material required for construction, but only per level. E.g.:

If construction requires 250 tiles in stage 5 and another 400 tiles in stage 6 (blue circles), both of these steps show as if I have sufficient tiles in the warehouse. Which is true per level, only (451 tiles in Warehouse - red circle). However, once I will reach stage 6 the construction with come to a halt, with only 201 tiles left (instead of 400 required in stage 6).

Could you change each subsequent stage to
subtract the material that would be consumed in previous stage(s)?

Second suggestion. Could you possibly make
the slide bar a bit wider? Not only it is very narrow and therefore difficult to click on (and slide), but it is also mighty close to the MMs button (green circle). I am aware of the confirmation button on spending MMs, but clicking the button accidentally again requires yet another click to get it away.

Finally, could you make clicking Start as of Stage 1 to close the window?

Thanks supernova for stating with visual aides what I have wanted to say for a couple of days. Well done.

You are very welcome, billyjim. I am a firm believer of 'a picture speaks a thousand words', and I think with BP we should make the picture (pun intended :p ) as clear as possible. :D :D :D

I'd welcome that, too, but I doubt they would change that. Why? Because if the window closes automatically, it takes away the "opportunity" for players to use instant finish on that upgrading step :D
