Moving Multiple Blocks

I was reshuffling my city about this morning and I am sure there is some sound technical reason we can not move more than one square or building at a time. But, would it not be nice to move whole blocks of our cities around. I have a nice Administrative Center I wanted to move as a single unit to a different location moving over fifty items was tedious. Any ideas or suggestions.

 

I think what you're thinking is something similar to how you would highlight stuff in a document or choose an area of an image in an editing program: click somewhere, hold, drag the mouse as far as you want, and the area within would be highlighted (and then be ready to move as a whole)...yes?

I like it, but I doubt it's possible. And if it's possible, I doubt it's something they'd want to implement.

However, I do wish moving things around would become easier, too. Alternative suggestion: A function with which you can choose multiple elements to at least move them into inventory in one go. By far not as fancy as your suggestion, I admit. But at least a start?

I'll dream along the same lines - would make reordering city so much easier. Just moving a length of road one space over is a pain!
