power plant upgrades

    i would like to see the power plants become up gradable like buildings

    How would they be upgraded how can you upgrade them what would change?
     
  3. Higher power output, meaning reduction of space used for powerplants. Upgrading could be done standard way using CC and materials. Conditions could be applied like upgrade availability from a certain level, minimum time of base plant working and others.

    There are lots of possibilities for Power Plant Upgrades.
    3 things can be traded off; power, mood loss and expense.
    More power = more expense.
    Less Mood Loss = more expense.

    I've already suggested:

    Why not 500,000cc to upgrade coal plant with C02 extraction, doubling power and halving mood loss?
    Why not 1,000,000cc to further upgrade to CHP (Combined heat and power) ? Doubling power only.
    Why not 2,000,000cc for nuclear power with 4000 power, but 3000 mood loss?

    Unlocked by level and plant working time as said by nortoncommander.

    Something like this would mean that cities would evolve over time; cheap low density power to start, expensive high density power when the privilege has been earned.

    I long for the day I can demolish my horrible little power plants.

    Solar Panels and Wind Farms should upgrade too, with similar conditions of course.

    This doesn't seem like it would be a difficult thing to code for - everything else works like this already.

  6. I especially like this type of definition. :) I've been "longing" for Power Plants upgrades for months now - it seems so anyway. Not for the power itself, but for space reduction mainly and for fun of upgrading itself. Anything non-upgradable doesn't seem to fit this game. Even decos and roads should be upgradable ........... lol :D :cool: :D

    I think it's a great idea to be able to upgrade power plants. My city is overwhelm with the number of power plants at the moment just to keep up the demands.

    12 Coal-Fire Power Plants
    7 small power plants
    2 hydro-electric power plants
    4 wind-farms
    8 small reactors
     
  8. Hydro's are cool, why do you have only two with such need? :) Sollars are the best I think in terms of power/mood ratio. They can help a lot too. :)

    How many solar power plants can we get? How about the wind power? Are these unlimited?
     
  10. I think maximum solar was 20. Certainly not unlimited. Wind farms are only two for MM. If somebody has more it's from quests or booster packs.

    2 in regards to the wind power plants. They are regularly given out as event prizes though, so might see some folk with half a dozen or so of them.

    Solar panels was limited to 20 IIRC, but again you can win additional permits from events and booster packs (good luck with the latter!)

    I think he has only 2 because either he is not in level 32 where you can produce tiles so you don't have to spend another million cc on tiles. Or he finds the 1 million cc for 250 more power to expensive I myself have 3 now I build my second one myself first one was in a plot. But I spend over 2 million cc one that one hydro plant witch I now regret :rolleyes:
     
  13. I waited with hydro till tiles were available. I only have 2 now but plan on no more than 3 to keep space in between. Well as long as I can do without them. Those 5 in a row look nasty. :) I think If I need more power I will rather wait for Nuclear with further development. :)

    Why is it that making power plants upgradeable doesn't affect the balance of the game, but making manufacturing plants upgradeable does? I don't understand why you are so pro this idea, norton, and so anti the production upgrade idea. Your arguments against the production upgrade idea could equally well be used here. Or am I misinterpreting your answers in one thread or both?

    I don't want to spend 1 million CC for a hydro. Anyway, now that I am on level 39 with Nuclear power plant available, I would rather spend my million on that instead...:)
