Dear Mr Pirate comma Lee (2),

I wanted to post this in the original thread, but it is closed now, so I'm doing it separately in this post. You said in the above tread:

"The team are looking at the issue which cannot be program related as it only effects a few but that being said some settings must be causing connection issues with certain system set ups."

I believe this is not true. I have returned from a holiday where I had the bad connection that caused my logging in times in excess of 3 hours (due to constant 'connection lost'). Here, back home and with good Net connection, it works as it should, albeit I still got lost connection when on for a few hours. I use(d) the same laptop on both locations.

This makes me believe it is not system set-up causing the problem. I think it indeed is a program-related issue. I will even dare to say that somewhere in the program they created a self-refreshing loop which takes too much broadband and therefore stalls the program on slow internet connections (ergo timing out and 'connection lost'). Sort of like travelling from Holland to Germany via USA, the Pacific and Asia, instead of direct, shorter (easier) route.

I am reporting this in hope it helps the programmers know where to look for the problem. If - forgive my skepticism - they are looking into it at all. (I know what you said is what they told you, but none of us can know what is really true.)

Please feel free to close this tread, as said I just wanted to report the observation.

    Happy gaming.

I am having the same problems, and I have never been abroad. We have a good connection, and whenever I collect rent/supplies in the first fell swoop, I get the "connection lost" error. I did manage to fix it temporarily by force stopping the page loading. Seems Facebook is slowing the data.

Thanks very much for your input here and I will pass it on to our developers.
My comment is that if some people never have an issue and others have an ongoing problem then I am not sure how this can be the program. We all share the same data in the game and we all access the same data from different places around the world.
My thoughts are that is that data is corrupt then everyone will have the problem.

Unfortunately only around 10% have this issue so that would indicate an external issue.

I have also been getting connection lost messages

but at times I log in and stay connected log out and back in the same day and get connection lost

If its a issue on my side how does it work fine at one time and lose connection other times the same day

I guess the answer is if it is the data then why have I never been able to duplicate the problem. Why has it never happened to me when I log on from Australia, Asia, China, Burma and Thailand (all in the past 6 weeks) and never dropped out once.

That is the problem our coders are struggling with.

This is speculation at best but what if is not a code problem but a hardware problem with a server or something that handles connecting to the servers ???

But i'm sure that would have been checked

I am starting to think that maybe it is a combination of things. Something (unnecessarily too extensive programming code?) is overloading cache, causing problem with connection, but good computer in combination with good Net connections can overcome the problem. Bad computer/good Net or good computer/bad Net cause problems...? And by the latter I am also including instances when generally good Net drops momentarily - which would explain why some people (me included) generally have good connection, but it still drops now and then.

I am slowly getting fed up. I think I am going to have to give this game up. I get in for a while and it works fine. Then all of a sudden, I start getting this connection lost message. I am not a computer geek. All I know is I can get into everything else fine, but when I try to play this game, I start having issues. I am midway through another event, and now I cannot complete it again because of this connection lost issue. Very frustrating.

One side note: Although I was always getting the connection lost message, it seemed to getting really bad once the Emergency System was fixed.

    For clarification

connection lost, no internet is only with the game I still have internet I play skyrama at the same time and that game is fine

The connection lost screen comes up seconds after clicking on houses to collect rent if it doesn't happen within seconds it doesn't give connection lost and i can stay on an hour or more

My Internet connection is good my computer is about 6 month old win 8

I took ditter1's suggestion. If I don't collect the rents first, it seems to allow me to play the game. This may shed some light on the issue.

What a lot of us actually forget is how complicated the internet connections can really get these days. Our data is switched automatically from one connection to another with out us even knowing it. Modern technology is wonderful but as it gets more sophisticated the chance for problems increases. To paraphrase Scotty from Star Trek 3 movie "The more complex the plumbing, the easier to clog it up."

Quite honestly, I could do without the Emergency System as I haven't quite figured it out anyway

Purely my own observation and experience here, but I believe the trick to avoiding the dreaded "connection lost" message lies simply in waiting a couple of minutes after loading the city before collecting any rents. Hover the mouse over a residence (without clicking) and wait until the popup bubble is fully formed, and you are good to go.

My guess is that the connection is being heavily slowed while the game loads everything up, thus clicking at this point does not get the required server response in time, and the game (falsely) believes the connection has been lost.

    Patience does pay off here.

Unfortunately, Simstralia, when I was reporting my connection problems with the slow Net I was not even reaching the point of collecting rent. The blue loading screen went on for about 10 min, and when the map would finally load, I got 'lost connection' pop-up and had to rinse and repeat.

For three days last week I was stuck on the blue loading screen also, and like you, if I managed to reach the city map I would also get the "lost connection" pop-up. As it turned out that time my ISP was having problems and everyone was being routed to one server, resulting in massive congestion, resulting in dial-up speed for all. Two separate problems as I see it.

    (1) Inability to get to the city map at all, or instant "lost connection" when on the map, I believe is due to the internet speed connections on the users end. As such, this is out of BigPoint's control.
    (2) Once the map is loaded, and you click to go to your city, here is where patience is required. Wait for the full popup bubble to appear on houses before collecting rent. Jumping the gun here can result in "connection lost", due to the high volume of data and background graphics being downloaded at that time.

Handy hint to pass onto the programming team perhaps: Check the client-server ping-pong response times. Perhaps doubling these could reduce the number of false connection lost issues when first loading the city.

Fortunately, I have taken the advice of ditter1 and Simstralia and now wait before playing the game once the playing field is loaded. Only a couple of times have I gotten the connection lost error before reaching that point, no where near what I was experiencing earlier. For the most part, I am now able to play the game.
