Looking at the map at the opening of the game, It appears to me that we have the perfect opportunity to have several items mentioned in several threads before. located at the end of the river between the main play field and sea shore would be the perfect place for a Harbor location.

We could have several heavy industries in this location. An Oil Industry (see https://board-en.risingcities.com/threads/oil-industry-for-game.20279/ ); Steel industry which could manufacture materials as alternatives to wood products for construction, beams, bricks, roofing tiles, etc.; Chemical Industry which could produce fertilizer which could act to either speed up or increase farm, dairy and ranch production, or create substitute products for construction Paneling, roofing tiles, cork. The options could be limitless.

These and other industries could be cross linked with products the steel industry make pipes for the oil industry the oil industry makes hydrocarbons for chemical industry, chemical industry makes esters for plastic industry, etc.

The harbor itself could be a universal supply source: We could place orders for product and pay with production points and wait for the materials to arrive or pay MM for instant delivery. This would be like ordering products from overseas. The Harbor could be upgradable for a price in CC's and materials to three or four levels with increasing quantities of product available for each level.

I know we just got the Mountain play field, but now is the time to start making suggestions and planning for the next expansion. Any other ideas or suggestions?

  2. I like this but we could have a harbor where we would need to bring in and take out the ships. The better we are at that the more income we get per ship. Also the more income means that you get bigger ship coming to you harbor.

  3. I like this idea, but it doesn't need to be a new playfield; It could be a special project !

True, but that section of the map just cries out to become a harbor and why not create something new and expansive for the game at the same time :)

  5. I didn't said it shouldn't be anything there. I just said that a harbour is not such a good idea for a playfield, but for a special project.

There could be also a island (playfield) with connection both from suburb (by boat) and coast (a underground tunnel - Channel Tunnel).

Or, on the other side of the map, we could have a playfield with a river flowing in the middle of it (the same one that flows from the Power Dam).

I did not mean for the play field to be only a harbor (sorry for the confusion). Probably a better name would be an industrial park with all of these industrial businesses. We could also have high density housing and additional items. Yes, the harbor could be a special project but the layout of the map makes it the ideal shape for a harbor.

We could have docks and freight transfer areas. We could add additional docks to the harbor front, each dock could be a universal production facility. We would spend the same PP's and time as a usual time for production of items.

This sounds like an excellent idea. The game has gown far beyond the original production requirements and this sounds like a good way to solve that, adding an interesting new dimension to the game.
Lots of new products would probably spice up the market too.

  8. I'm of an oppinion that the game is still rather well ballanced and any increase in production power has to be treated with great caution. Insensitive additions could change marathon into a sprint, which I think would just pretty much kill the game.

Nevertheless, the idea is great, and would make an excellent fun if properly implemented. :) Worthy alternative to my Manufacturing RI and Mastery proposal and in fact, both could be actually combined to create nice complex boost system.

I like the idea Nortoncommander. We could import RI's of our choosing at a cost. I also agree it would have to be implemented with a great deal of caution. Maybe we could move those nasty power plants to this field?

Vote billyjim join the dev team, they sure could use some new ideas.
Heck I would pay for an update like this.

Although I am with norton when it come to increased production.
We need to be carful with it especially as BP are absolute clueless when it comes to balancing.

True that balance is the name of the game. But, we have suffered the loss of x-presso, increase in requirements in events, new playing fields and levels, so a little nudge towards increase in production would not hurt, In my humble opinion. ;)

I want the game to continue to be more challenging and to develop. There are many avenues for this to occur. The more ideas we offer, of course assuming someone listens and does not simply throw them out because it was not created by the team, the better.

I think it is a bad sign that the number of ideas offered recently in the forum has dwindled to almost nothing. Comments in the Speakers Corner are virtually nothing but complaint and pity parties. This is not a healthy. There needs to be open and free exchange of ideas and information for something as complex and interactive as this game to flourish. Sorry on a rant will have to start a new thread. :D In short keep giving your input and ideas. I love to see where and what we can come up with.
