  1. Apologies if previously been discussed but I've not seen it. I'd like my city to be a little more eco-friendly.

I wonder, upon reaching a certain Mayor Level, could you either perform a task or unlock the option to build a tram-shed. This would then open up the possibility of acquiring 'tram/road' tiles within the Street/Square section of the Design Depot.

These tiles may cost a premium, but can be used as per other street/square tiles. However, in order for the 'positive effect' of adopting a tram network in your city, they must connect to the tram shed. By increasing the size of your tram network, and therefore potentially reducing the burden of vehicle traffic on the streets, this could equate to an increase in Mood amongst city inhabitants. Ideally I'd also like to see this have a positive affect on Energy consumption but I'm not sure whether this would actually make sense to.

    Anyway, just an idea.

I like the idea. Couple of questions:
    1. Would the tram tracks count the same as roads. That is could you build adjacent to the tram line and have it act just like building along side of road?
    2. Could the trams be used for inter play field connections?
    3. How would you handle the crossing of roads and tram lines?
Since most of our cities are so high density and we are talking about Eco-friendly would not a subway or tube system be more appropriate. We could have station access 1 x 1 structure that would connect to the subterranean world. Could have the positive mood and energy you are looking for and would be a lot simpler to program. Could access through the special section of the designer depot, just like the Fire, Police, Medical support structures.

  3. Hi billyjim.

In all honesty I've not given the idea a huge amount of thought, but I would expect it to be able to link playfields. I think you raise some very relevant questions re: would you build the track next to the road and how would road crossings be handled... two very questions I asked myself once I posted the idea.

I like the idea of a subway which, as you say, would likely be easier to program, fit better in the high density cities as well as fulfil the aim of reducing energy and raising mood.

I think there is definitely room for some kind of development akin to this suggestion, more likely following your train of thought (no pun!!) rather than my original post.

Slightly off-piste, and to sidestep the potential problems you raised in points 1 and 3... and if a subterranean transportation system wasn't adopted... what about looking upwards and a monorail system?

Thanks, the monorail ala Disney World would be cool. The graphics would be fun to watch.

  5. nice idea i support it
