  1. Mainly for long time players:
How many Farms and lumber mills did you guys buy within the first 15 levels of the game? Do u need a lot now?(at the later levels, i.e. 30ish) cos i don't want to waste cc on them...and the vegetable stand and hollywood diner? more than one of each?
when would u upgrade city hall to level 2?

how about first aid boxes, hydrants and surveillance cameras?

is it a good idea to follow the quests step by step, or to just ignore them and do our own thing?

If you follow the quests when starting out they do help you learn the game and provide much needed resources...but it is fine to let a quest sit for a bit if need be. This game is largely a plan and wait game, don't think you have to rush to complete anything and choose wisely how to deploy what resources you have...and you'll grow exponentially. Best tip I ever got was get all the farms and mills up and running (and upgraded) as quickly as you can and get your workforce (build and upgrade basic housing, put in workers, get veggie stands covering them and earn those much needed production points). I got lucky and got seven mills before they cut it to only five. Makes a big difference in stocking up on materials I need for construction, and has made some events a bit easier). Eight farms didn't hurt either ;) But above all, the game is a balancing act and it is ultimately up to you to find the balance that works best for you.

... and before you spending a lot of real cash on the game then read some of the post from Geflin and billyjim - its a quick way to find out some of the troubles there is with this game.

... but still one of my favorit games ;)

  4. ahhh okkk thanks for the help!
last thing, how significant are the first aid boxes, hydrants and surveillance cameras? they are just for the emergencies but what role does that play in the whole game?

later you can build fire station ambulance police. There will be emergencies that give you medals and you trade these in for random prizes, from resources experience points building permits etc

As stated I would keep everything in balance. That being ssid you never can go wrong with having to much production as long as you have enough workers to produce production points to keep them working (more upgraded the more it pp it takes to do a run). You also do not have to upgrade all of you manufacturing at once you can have a level 3, two level 2, and two level 1 Farms or Mills at the same time (or any combination. I would recomend upgrading at least one of each as soon as you can to get the capability there, but that is me.

As for Vegtable Stands and Hollywood Diners build them as you need them to meet the needs of your citizens. Again upgrade as needed. It is usually cheaper in the long run to upgrade than to build additional ones. Space does become an issue in the later stages of the game.

Upgrading the City Hall: The City Hall is an interesting and secretive feature in the game. The developers used the City Hall levels to trigger changes in the game which are very subtle. So when you upgrade you get improved rewards and new opportunities. They are slight and require a long time to recoup your investment. So do not do until you are on good financial footing.

Last bit of advice: This is a long game and you need to plan you strategy in advance and stick with it. The worse thing you can do is change direction all of the time. But, there is no single way to solve any of the problems in the game.

Hope we have been helpful. Good luck and have fun.

This is so true....my second time around at this game. The faster you build your farms; saw mills; brickyards; and so on will help you have the resources to build your city bigger. They are what makes your city run.
