  1. Can you all offer us some churches to build? Churches in real life are usually expensive to build so the should be about a one time fee of 100,000 citycredits. There should be a good variety of church building types depending on the religion or religions the mayor wants to have in his/her city. Also, the rewards of having churches in your city is the happiness level increases by 1 point per person that attends that week; however, that happiness level goes back down at the end of the week. If the people go back to services the next week, the happiness level goes back up again for that week. :) The mayors should also be allowed to choose how many of their residents attend church. :)

I love the idea of churches! What if it was a static amount of happiness, like +30 and then every sunday you have the option of donating your money to the church to increase happiness by +5 with like a max of +200. I think it would be kind of hard to justify the increase in happiness for one day of the week, does that mean you have a house in storage that you only take out during sunday? Doesn't seem to help the player out much.

  5. If they let us chose if we want to build any churches in our cities, it could be implemented.

Also, I see this idea becoming a sort of ERS: small chapels, which are scattered around the playfield and, just like a church, would have a certain coverage. All buildings in the coverage area would have a bonus, let's say +X% needs revenue and -X% Mood Loss. Furthermore, it would be only one type of range (ERS have three) and it wouldn't matter if a certain building is in the coverage area of two chapels, it will have the same Needs Revenue boost and the same Mood Loss as if it would have been in the coverage area of one chapel.

I see no reason why religion should be dragged in to this game. I know you want it as an innocent suggestion but keep in mind that all the players on RC don't share the same belief. Implementing things like religious or political institutions in the game, whether the intention of it is innocent or not, could offend and ultimately make people of different beliefs feel excluded. I think it would be for the best that RC kept neutral in that matter and kept it as the simple city-maker game as it is.

  8. That's why I suggested different types of churches. Maybe even have a place to type the name and type of church that way all religions are included. You can even make it an athiest club if you don't believe in god.

It would be a hopelessly complex task for RC to include all the religions (and branches thereof) in the world. And as I implied, the concept of the game would also change from being a simple city-building game to having a more serious purpose which will inevitably lead the users to divide themselves in to groups depending on their belief system (or lack of), and this will create disharmony in the RC community I think. I respect your idea hydrobuilder, and I think it's a very nice thought, I just don't think that RC would be the right place to implement it.

I could make a very good case as to how religion (of any sort) might be damaging to the mood, production and education levels in a city, but out of respect I will just re-iterate that I don't think churches are a good idea.

However, similar, and much more interesting possibilities exist with education itself. There could be libraries and museums, schools, high schools, colleges and universities. All affecting mood, CC, PP and EP production in different ways. There could be businesses supplying the needs; paper makers, book makers (not the gambling sort:)) computer hardware and software suppliers, teacher colleges etc etc.
This could be phased in gradually making it easier for RC to implement. It doesn't all need to appear at once.

Bearing in mind, if any type of worship was included at a +X% then agnostic players would either loose the benefit or play against their personal beliefs. I really think this idea needs to be scrapped.

I just reread your post. What is wrong with the gambling sort. So many cities are turning to gambling to balance their books in the real world why not a casino. Could yield a bonanza of CC or MM's but cost a ton of Mood value. Maybe even some long black limos roaming the streets. :D

I could actually maybe go for that billyjim. But I'd want it to have seriously heavy mood penalty. Seriously serious.;)

Maybe they could go bankrupt like some of the ones in Atlantic City, NJ are going through right now.
